The company also now makes models with bagless systems, cleaners designed to remove pet hair and even steam cleaners. In 1937, the company launched its first handheld vacuum cleaner. The company was then bought out and took the new name of Royal Appliance Manufacturing. In 1953 it changed hands once more, experiencing further growth and success before finally being bought again in 1981.
