Electrolux was founded in Sweden in 1910, as ‘Electromekaniska’, specialising in the manufacturing and sales of vacuum cleaners. The company’s initial success was largely based on home demonstrations. In 1919, the company merged with Lux and in 1957 it became known as Electrolux.

Throughout the 20th century, Electrolux was a key innovator in a variety of home and industrial products, including refrigeration units when two young engineers invented the absorption refrigerator in the 1920s.

In 2000 Electrolux launched the ‘Oxygen’ vacuum cleaner, with a 99.5% filtration system, meaning the air is cleaner than the air on the North Pole.

Today Electrolux remains one of the world’s most famous brands of home appliances, commanding a 28% share of the global home appliances market. The company makes an excellent range of vacuum cleaners and steam cleaners, which are great value for money and can be bought from many online stores.
